Tough night

Well, I made it over 7 months of writing something every day until life got completely in the way.

Rylee absolutely would not go to sleep last night.  She only had an hour nap at school yesterday, so she napped for an hour in the car after school.  She usually naps 2 hours at school, so this wasn't a big deal.  She ate dinner and played just like usually.

Joseph got her ready for bed at the usual time and took her with him to put Aiden to bed while I was on a call.  When I came to get her, she was ready to play some more.  I let her play and made her another bottle.

We settled on the couch, and I know she drifted off like she usually does.  However, she didn't stay asleep.  She wanted to be cute and funny and giggly.  It was adorable but not what we needed.  In my efforts to get her to sleep she polished off that bottle.

Joseph got her a little more milk and took a turn with her.  No dice.  I even walked and swayed with her like when she was a baby.  Still nothing.  Finally, I gave her to Joseph and got ready for bed myself.  Then I just took her to our bed.

She still didn't want to sleep.  I didn't want to give her anymore milk because what goes in has to come out.  I came to the conclusion I'd have to let her cry it out.  There is a reason I am not a "cry it out" kind if parent.  I sobbed and shed about as many tears as Rylee.  Joseph suggested giving her the little bit of milk that was left, and I went for it.  She finally fell asleep, and I was too emotionally spent to stay awake myself.

I'm really hoping last night was an anomaly.  I can't take that kind of drama on a regular basis.  Fortunately, Joseph just walked by and put her sleeping little self in her bed.  Fingers crossed she stays there for awhile.

She's way too cute to cause so much drama.  LOL!  I guess it's what happens with girls. :)
