I decided that as part of my encouragement for my goal and would do a visualization that Jordan Adler suggested in his book Beach Money. I wrote down what my ideal life looks like and used present tense as though I were already living it. I had been thinking about it all week, and I saw this on a co-workers calendar:
This sparked a conversation with a couple of co-worker/Scentsy sister/friends. Adler is encouraging people to do what this quote says messes us up. Megan pointed out thiT this quote is for the perfectionist who want things a certain way and get derailed when reality doesn't meant that standard. Kim pointed out that it's the expectations we have that can't become reality that deflate us. (I'm paraphrasing and adding, girls. Forgive me. 😊)
I totally get both side. It's important to think about and visualize how we want things to be as a means of inspiration. We need to understand that reality may not be exactly as we imagined, but that doesn't mean it won't be even better.
This is were faith comes in for me. I have to trust that there is a reason why things go the way they go. Why things don't happen in my time or my way. The Lord will provide for me, and He has a plan for me. I am NOT good at this. Just ask my husband. He has seem many a meltdown because something didn't go my way. I struggle with it mightily, and goodness gracious hormones do not help matters. LOL!!
I'm a work in progress and learning to lean on God. In the heat of the moment I sometimes forget, but by His grace it is forgiven. I can try to do better next time. And there will always be a next time.
